Design Exercises

When I set out to create this blog, one of my central ambitions was to produce a weekly game design to be hosted on it. I carried on with it for almost a year during my college days. Although many of these designs are long out-of-date, now, they remain valuable pieces of experience and examples to model for how to “exercise” as a designer.

The rules I have set myself for this endeavor are simple:

  1. The entire description and ruleset must fit on one page (more or less).
  2. No extravagant or custom objects, including cards, tokens, boards, or other devices.
  3. Try to be original; keep it simple.
